Licences for Australia
Updated over a week ago

Australia accepts drivers 18 years and over who hold:

  • A Full Driver Licence in English

  • An Australian Green P Plate (P2) Licence or a Restricted New Zealand licence

  • If you have a temporary licence, note we only accept AU temporary licence and this needs to be accompanied with another form of photo ID.

  • If the licence is not in English then you will need an International Driver Permit or a Certified Translation of your Driver Licence. This must accompany the original home country driver licence. Click here to get a quote to translate your licence.

  • For drivers between 18-20 an underage driver surcharge will apply for rentals on cars and will be quoted at the time of booking.

  • We do accept digital drivers licenses in Australia as proof of identity as some states and territories have begun to use this license type. However, we do encourage customers to check beforehand each state and territory website to check requirements when driving within that state as authorities in the jurisdiction may not accept a digital license.

  • We do NOT accept Learners Licence or any probationary Licences, including a Red P Plate or a P1 Licence.
